David A. Pestell

David represents both individual and corporate clients in an array of transactional matters. He focuses his practice on contract drafting and negotiation, estate planning, corporate advisory work, and real estate. He also advises clients regarding all aspects of corporate formation, management, and governance. David works closely with automobile dealerships and their owners in handling complex sales and acquisitions. Regardless of the magnitude of the matter, David approaches the practice with enthusiasm and a dedication to get the job done.

David took the opportunity in college and law school to devote his talents to a variety of internships. David clerked for a domestic relations judge in the Circuit Court of Cook County and worked for the United States Federal Bureau of Consular Affairs in Washington D.C. He also worked for the Legal Aid Bureau providing legal services to low-income Chicagoans. David legal studied abroad, taking legal courses and seminars in Italy, Costa Rica, and Argentina.

Upon graduation, David worked at a boutique insurance defense firm before bringing his talents to a mid-size downtown firm. David joined Hardt, Stern & Kayne in 2022, bringing to the representation of his clients an extensive litigation experience in state and federal court, and before administrative tribunals. David has represented clients in matters ranging from employment discrimination and wrongful termination claims, commercial litigation, insurance coverage disputes, and liability defense. David also has experience representing clients in real estate litigation, landlord-tenant disputes, and other claims. His litigation knowledge and background provides David with a broad-base understanding of how to draft documents and address transactional matters for clients in the best way to avoid litigation down the road.
