James Hardt is recognized as one of the premier automobile dealership attorneys in the country. Jim has a valuable understanding of the retail automotive business and is able to provide a unique perspective and appreciation for his client’s business interests. He brings a wealth of personal knowledge to his practice in representing clients in mergers, acquisitions, divestures, leasing, shareholder agreements, business planning, succession planning and dealer/manufacturer relationships including consolidations, relocations, add points and franchise terminations. In addition to serving his clients, Jim worked with the Illinois State Dealer Association in drafting amendments to the Illinois Motor Vehicle Franchise Act and was counsel to the former Chicagoland Chrysler/Jeep Dealer Advertising Association for over twenty years. Jim began his career in the sales and market representation divisions of Ford Motor Company before founding the firm in 1985.
